Frisco finalizes deal to land PGA of America headquarters
The PGA of America headquarters will be part of a new $500 million deal that win include two golf courses and return major championship golf to North Texas.

“The motion to welcome the PGA of America to Frisco, Texas passes,” said Frisco Mayor Pro Tem Shona Huffman at tonight’s city council meeting. City leaders greenlighting a project to relocate the PGA of America’s headquarters to Frisco.
“Right here in North Texas is going to be the epicenter of golf for America,” said Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney.
Besides PGA HQ, the deal will include a pair of 18-hole golf courses; a championship layout as well as a recreational one.
Omni Hotels & Resorts will develop a 500-room resort property and the project will include 30-thousand square feet of retail space.
The new site sits on the northern edge of Frisco, near the Dallas North Tollway and Panther Creek Parkway. The land was the old Headquarters Ranch, formerly owned by Bert Fields, Jr. The development will be known as the Fields, and the working name for the two courses will be PGA Frisco East and West.
“PGA Frisco is going to bring championship golf to Northern Texas, so the best players in the world will be tested on these great golf courses,” said PGA Chief Operating Officer Darrell Crall. “But every day they’ll be welcoming, inclusive, and a fun place for all of us to enjoy.”
The PGA joins the likes of the Cowboys, Stars, and FC Dallas, all big league sports entities that call Frisco home. And the move will further enhance the legacy of major championship golf in our region.
“I think everyone you heard from tonight if you asked them privately they would all say this is the hardest deal they’ve ever worked on in their career,” said Cheney. “I think most cities would have given up a long time ago or thought it was impossible. Here in Frisco, we dream big and we deliver.”
And now the PGA will deliver the first major championship here in North Texas in more than half a century. The PGA’s in 2027 and 2034 will be staged on the new course and there will be senior and women’s major event there, too.
“It’s the first reason we talked about doing this,” said Crall. “We wanted to put a stake in the ground for major championship golf, this is such a strong business, strong sports town.”
And now even stronger now. Many phases of the project are scheduled to be completed in 2022 when North Texas’ love affair with golf is certain to grow deeper.
